Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam 2011 - Phenomenal Level at the Training Day!

The freestyle sun has risen again! We had to wait for an eternity of a whole year but now it is finally on again: the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam! For the ninth time, the Jam will rock the Dachstein and appropriately sound the bell for the new season. Hot battles, cool beats and off-the-hook parties – this event is something really special and in every respect promotes the freestyle spirit! Today’s training day already foreshadowed the freestyle ecstasy we’re about to witness in these following days!

It is hard to hide that particular grin spreading all over your face when you see a perfectly shaped setup in a freshly polished snowpark, magnificent sunshine and a seemingly endless crowd of highly motivated, world famous riders – and that’s exactly how today started out in the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein! Smiling faces were also seen among the riders when they first saw the park, preparing for their first runs in the course of the training - always keeping one eye on their competitors though. After all, the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam is part of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour and thus an important step on the stairway to becoming a LEGEND!
In the training, pro riders such as Mathieu Crepel or Aimee Fuller already kicked out some sick tricks and made us hungry for more. For Mathieu Crepel, it is the first contest this winter. Even though he has been a rare participant at contests in the last years, he did not want to miss the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam by any means – and he was obviously enthused: “I arrived here three days ago. The snow is good and the atmosphere is amazing. The setup is fun! Having three different kickers in a row is pretty sick. I particularly like the third, table top one. It’s a pleasure to be back on the snow.”
Among the girls, Aimee Fuller, who was 2nd last year, stood out particularly with her perfect underflips: “I’m super stoked about the setup, especially impressive for this time of the year! The competition is quite heavy: There’s Cheryl Maas and Silvia Mittermueller, but also youngsters such as Klaudia Medlova, just mention a few. Nevertheless, I think my chances at the Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam are pretty good.”
The winner of the first QParks Tour Finals last year, Florian Prietl, also demonstrated some massive styles today. On Wednesday, the Canadian Antoine Trouchon already impressed with a series of FS Doublecorks 10. And there is a lot more to come! In tomorrow’s qualifying, all competitors will have to pull out all they’ve got in order to make it to Saturday’s finals! It’s going to be a blast, dear freestyle heads!
After the training, all riders gathered for the traditional Riders meeting in the aQi hotel in Schladming and are currently preparing for the Riders Welcome Party. We will provide pictures from the party tomorrow. By the way: This was only the beginning there are still more parties for riders and audience to come (Check the party schedule!)! We’re gonna jam the night away in Schladming, so let’s get the party started!
